New and Improved

In case you have not noticed, I can be a bit of a perfectionist at times (in other words, I can be anal about certain things). So an effort to "build a better mouse trap" (web site experience), I in the process of starting a new family web page at a new site that allows more storage (since I had maxed out Geocities free space allowance already) and more data transfer (so people can view it without it continually shutting down). It is a little different, so if will take me a while to be able to do everything I want to do with it. Here is the link: gniffke.uber.com

This site is a little different for navigation. There is a link to sites in the profile box where you can access info and links to places like this blog. One cool feature is the photo section, where you can peruse photos in a slide type show. I have already loaded several fun photos.

Hope you enjoy!

Another bump in the road

Maggie had to go to the dentist today. Turns out that she had a tooth that was dying. Luckily it was one of her baby teeth, so it just had to be pulled. She will need to have a spacer put in next week until her adult tooth comes in. She is home now and playing video games, I think that helps take the pain away. She is not hungry, didn't even want pizza! But her appetite will probably return when the numbness wears off. She did say she wanted to go to Chuckie Cheese, but just to play the games, and not eat pizza. (I'm not sure how my offering to make a frozen pizza turned into an invitation to Chuckie Cheese, but apparently in her mind it did.) When I told her we weren't going to Chuckie Cheese right now, she said, "But you said you would make it up to me!" Touche'!

March 17, 08

Nothing unusal or special going on this weekend, and no major Paulaisms to report. (There was one minor one, but I can't even remember what it was, I just remember her saying, "That isn't going to end up on the blog, is it?")

Did some work on the kids room. Painted one half pink for Maggie and one half blue for Jeremy. Just need to finish laying the carpet and then start working on the loft beds.

Went out to dinner with some of Paula's family on Saturday, and then over to Uncle Carlos and Aunt Millie's for desert (and to celebrate Edna's upcoming birthday). That is about it!

She Said It

The cable guys were at the house Saturday to install all the needed wires. Where each TV was to be there were cardboard boxes with wires coming out going to the walls. Paula knew that we were getting new "boxes" with this cable company (can you see where this is going yet?), so she asked, "Are those the boxes they are going to leave?" I had to explain to her that those were the boxes that they were pulling the new wires out of. Stay tuned for more!

Most of you who know us know us know of the challenges that we have had with Nathan over the years. I just want to take this opportunity to say how proud I am of the man that he is becoming. I see a maturity and ability to deal with issues in him that was not there before. Paula and I are both proud of him very much!

March 10, 08

We are busy! We continue in our plans to having Paula's parents move in with us. At this time, the projected date is early July of this year. Even though it will mean a time of adjustment, we are excited about having them stay with us (but not nearly as excited as Maggie and Jeremy). We hope to have a chance to have a get together this summer for our "long lost" friends (again, we apologize for being out of touch with so many for so long), but that depends on so many things...

March 09, 08

I have had some time to "play around" on the internet today. I spent most of that time updating (actually recreating) our family web page. If you would like to check it out, the address is www.geocities.com/dgniffke@att.net.

March 8, 08

I am new to this, but I am looking forward to it. Having high speed internet at home now will give me an opportunity to keep this updated (hopefully!).
